Grove

Intrigued by the notion of visual authenticity in photography, my project 'Grove' establishes a commentary on the value and nature of the common Family Album.

An item primarily used to store and flaunt family outings, these often crowded photo books are thoroughly edited and serve to display how one only wishes to be seen. The normality of life is often disregarded and replaced with unique images taken whilst in a foreign country or

experiencing an event usually disconnected from everyday actuality. Employing the themes of identity, narrative, realism and death, the seven final images demonstrate a single figure wearing the masks of the first British-television functional family: the Groves.
